Regional Youth Conference. Khorog, September 26-28, 2017

Within the framework of the project "Youth Empowerment Towards Sustainability and Change" supported by the EU, a regional Youth Conference is taking place in Khorog on September 26-28, 2017, with the participation of representatives of youth NGOs to involve Badakhshan's youth in the Central Asian platforms of youth public organizations. The implementation of this activity is related to the Project objective #4 "Networking structures and policy dialogue mechanisms to promote youth participation in social and economic life of their communities are improved”, which has global and strategic importance for regional cooperation and development.

Within the framework of the project "Youth Empowerment Towards Sustainability and Change" supported by the EU, a regional Youth Conference is taking place in Khorog on September 26-28, 2017, with the participation of representatives of youth NGOs to involve Badakhshan's youth in the Central Asian platforms of youth public organizations. The implementation of this activity is related to the Project objective #4 "Networking structures and policy dialogue mechanisms to promote youth participation in social and economic life of their communities are improved”, which has global and strategic importance for regional cooperation and development.

The objective of the event is to promote networking activities, the interrelationship between different levels of the public sector and other sectors of society in the framework of the joint resource management development process, aimed at building confidence; as well as informing the stakeholders about the status of the project implementation, the experience gained, as well as the plans for the final year of the project.

Expected results:
The most desirable outcome of the Conference is to introduce the targeted Badakhshan youth NGOs to the existing networks of youth organizations of the Central Asia, aimed at solution of the youth problems, enhancing youth role and participation in all processes of life of their communities; discussion of concrete and effective mechanisms to start transboundary projects; to ensure existence of this informal network.

Background information: In March 2015, with support from the European Union, the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (DVV International) initiated a new 3-year Project called within the framework of the EU “Peace Building Partnership Programme”. The project is funded by the European Union (494,096 Euros = 80%) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (130,904 Euros = 20%). The Project activity targets 7 districts of Badakhshan and its capital town Khorog.
